this could still be interesting if
despite the fact that Watson is a lady
her and Sherlock are still just platonic BFFs/soulmates
and there is no romantic subplot between them
(this probably won’t happen though)

yeah okay so I was just remembering this sherlock-is-a-hallucination headcanon that fascinated me awhile ago
and you know when john goes to his therapist at the beginning of Reichenbach and she’s all “so why are you back”
and you’re thinking “man this bitch is seriously going to make him say it what a cunt”
but man
man
what if she seriously doesn’t know because Sherlock was always a crazed hallucination
it fits so seamlessly into this wild headcanon
The entire episode is the result of John’s fantasy world finally starting to crack and his sanity starting to return, and the characters within it start to doubt Sherlock because John is starting to realize he can’t be real
But he can’t quite accept it because the fantasy is all that’s kept him going for almost two years. As he says at the grave: No one will ever convince me you told me a lie. I was so alone, and you gave me so much.
Sherlock shows up at the end because John wants to believe the lie, he doesn’t want to get better because “better” is bleak and depressing and he’d rather be living in his fantasy world, with Sherlock. And if he has no motivation to get well and stay well, he’s just going to go back. Sherlock can’t truly die unless John really wants him gone, and that will never happen.
biggest Sherlock fanfic pet peeve:
when people call Sherlock “Sherlock” but call John “Watson”
just nooo stop that.
